Since the 1930s, L’Oréal products have been used by professional hairdressing salons in the UK. Today’s L’Oréal is a truly massive beauty products empire, including brands such as Lancôme, Helena Rubinstein, Cacharel, Garnier, Maybelline, Redken, Kérastase,Vichy and even The Body Shop. The majority of these well known names are purveyed under their original brand with minimal, if any, mention of their mighty parent company – however, the muscle that L’Oréal offers these smaller brands means that the products are available nearly anywhere you may choose to shop.
L’Oréal’s own product range is relatively small, compared with that of the company’s collected assets. This ‘own brand’ product collection is sold under the banner L’Oréal Paris – the line includes skin and hair care products, cosmetics, hair colour, styling products and a range of personal care products developed specifically for men.
Skin care products from L’Oréal are offered in ranges targeted at specific age groups, because as we age our skin’s needs change as well. For the teenagers, L’Oréal Paris offers the PureZone collection of cleansers formulated to combat and compliment the ever-changing ‘face’ of youth. For those in their 20s, the range expands to include a wider collection that moisturises, cleans and ‘perfects’ the skin. From age 30, L’Oréal Paris include a targeted attack on the early signs of ageing with their Wrinkle De-Crease formula. For those who’ve found that life begins at 40, L’Oréal provide a more intensive anti-wrinkle treatment – Revitalift. Age Perfect is the range of products L’Oréal have crafted for women 50 and over. And for those with very mature skin, L’Oréal offer the Age Re-Perfect Pro-Calcium collection of products.
L’Oréal’s cosmetics range includes products for the face, eyes lips and nails. For your face, L’Oréal offers foundations, powders, blushers, bronzers and concealers – popular face cosmetics include True Match Powder and the Touche Magique concealer pencil. To hightlight and enhance the eyes, L’Oréal provide a traditional range of eyeshadows, eyeliners and mascaras – these include innovations such as Lash Architect mascara, with micro pigments and an exclusive brush to provide volume and length to your lashes. To perfect your pout, L’Oréal’s lip line includes glosses, liners and lipsticks that moisturise and protect, as well as providing long-lasting colour. L’Oreal’s palette of nail varnish is truly varied – they separate these into three ranges: the long-lasting, such as the Resist & Shine collection; the quick drying Jet-Set Diamant hues; and the dazzling La Collection, with a variety of jewel-like colours and effects.
For hair, L’Oréal offers a number of well-known products to meet every styling requirement. There is the Elvive range of shampoos and conditioners for virtually every hair type. For children, the company has a dedicated line, L’Oréal Kids. And similarly, there is a range for Men’s hair. Styling products by L’Oréal include the youthful Studio Line of sprays, spritzes, mousses and gels; the more up-market Elnett collection of hair sprays; and, the Elvive Styliste mousse and crème. L’Oréal’s rainbow of hair colour boasts a high approval rating in most consumer polls – their collections include everything from natural colour enhancements to dazzling tints and highlights. Popular ranges of L’Oréal hair colour include Féria and Couleur Experte.
The majority of L’Oréal Paris products are available in chemists, supermarkets and department stores across the UK and around the world. L’Oréal Paris products are also available on a number of websites.
